THE SIX MARYS is a one-act play written and presented by Jean Farrell. Jean is chairperson of Athlone RTA.

This very funny play follows the lives of Mary Black, Mary Brown, Mary Green, Mary White, Mary Grey and Mary Golden. From the 1950s it tells of the comics and catechism they read. In the the 1960s their search for Mr. Wonderful, at hops, brings great hope to their lonely hearts. In the 1970s, failing to meet Mr. Wonderful, they settle for Mr. Ordinary and begin married life. Throughout the following decades the Marys discuss the true realities of married life, rearing babies, children and teenagers.

Eventually the six Marys realise that you make your own dreams come true. The theme is universal. This journey of self-discovery is interspersed with well-known hit songs from the various eras, sung by Catherine Gallagher.

The play will be performed in Cleere’s Theatre on Friday, 29th September at 8.00pm. Tickets €10 are available from Marian, 0876742884.
