We have been very busy this month of September. We started with a visit to the Vermeer Exhibition in the National Art Gallery. A group of 12 members travelled by train on 6th September. It was a great opportunity to visit the National Art Gallery, do some shopping and have a nice lunch.
On Wednesday, 13th September a very large number of members attended our Annual Mass in St. Fiacre’s Church, Loughboy. Thanks to all who attended and who contributed to the Mass by reading, singing and prayers of the faithful. A special word of thanks to Joy for her organ accompaniment. We had a lovely cuppa afterwards in the parish coffee dock.
Dr. Mark Morgan gave a very interesting and thought provoking talk on “Maintaining Cognitive and Social Strengths in retirement.” We had a very large attendance for this event in the Clubhouse Hotel. Many of the members stayed afterwards for lunch.
Our computer classes started in Kilkenny Education Centre on Tuesday, 19th September, with 10 members attending. There are two classes – beginners and intermediate. Classes run for 6 consecutive Tuesdays – beginners at 10.15am and intermediate at 11.30am.
Our next event is our monthly lunch on Monday, 25th September in the Clubhouse Hotel. All welcome. Bring a book to swop!!!
Congratulations to our recently retired teachers – Rose Condon, Emmet Huston, Larry Browne and Kathleen Hogan.
