Some Dates for Your Diary


Summer meeting.   Monday, 21st May in Club House hotel ballroom at 11.00 a.m.

Mr.Billy Sheehan will attend.


Summer day trip.    Wednesday, 13th June- visiting Hook Head, Tintern Abbey and meal in the Brandon House Hotel.  I will email full details nearer the date and will be looking for numbers for the bus.


Annual Mass.         Thursday, 6th September in St. Fiacre’s Church at 10.30 a.m. followed by tea/coffee in the Parish Centre.


RTA GOLF OUTING.   Portarlington Golf Club on Friday 18th May. Tea /coffee and scones at 11.a.m.  €20 -3 person scramble. All are welcome.



We will have a walk in the Discovery Park in Castlecomer in the next couple of weeks. I will email you when I see that the forecast is good and we can meet at the carpark there.  If there is sufficient interest I will book a tour of Shankill Castle and Gardens  in Paulstown. Tour is €8.00. It was featured on ‘Room to Improve’ recently and seemed an interesting place to visit. If you are interested let me know.


This is Bealtaine Festival time  – celebrating the arts and creativity as we age. If you look up and put Kilkenny in the search box you will see a few activities locally.There is a  Boora Bog walk on Thursday 10th May starting at 11.00 a.m. This is situated between Tullamore and Shannonbridge and there is a guided 5km or 10km developed walk. Take your own packed lunch and tea/coffee will be provided.  Please let me know if you are interested in this.


For September we are looking at booking

  1. A midweek trip to Cork visiting Spike Island and Mizen Head.(3 nights)


  1. Crete -8 day cultural tour with RSD travel.-details to be on our website tomorrow.          (If your interested it needs to be booked now)


  1. Bridge Lessons.


  1. Art Lessons —-€200 for 10 lessons— supply your own equipment.
