RTA Day Trip - Wexford Town
RTA Day Trip – Wexford Town

It was just a short spin from Johnstown Castle and Gardens to Wexford Town. Whatever hopes we had for an improvement in the weather were dashed as the day remained overcast and wet. We were glad of a long lunch in the Westgate Design Restaurant where the staff were very friendly and cheerful. The restaurant was downstairs and the Design shop was at street level. You could spend some time here browsing or shopping as it stocked a wide range of quality design products. We were free to spend the rest of the afternoon until about 4.30 pm exploring Wexford at our own leisure. It’s a fine shopping town and so compact.

There were also a few galleries open and the new Library building is worth a visit.  Along the harbour there were plenty of boats and ships moored but very little activity.

Though the day was wet it wasn’t cold and we made the best of it. Thanks to Marian and Pauline for organising the trip and we look forward to our next break in Bantry from 2nd – 5th April. Ten members have confirmed their places for the Bantry trip but there are still vacancies if you’re interested.
