On Saturday, 22nd March, 26 choir members of RTAI Kilkenny travelled to Dublin to perform with other RTAI members from around the country. Rehearsals were held in Club na Múinteoirí and the performance of 8 songs was held in St. Saviour’s Church, Dominic Street, under the direction of Muireann Ryan, accompanied by Maria Comerford and Monica Lowe, our musical directors. The performance received a standing ovation from a very appreciative audience. This is the very first time that a musical event such as this has taken place, where over 200 retired members from the various branches came together to perform. This idea was the brainchild of our member, Marian Ryan, and due to her visionary leadership and exceptional organisation skills it was a memorable day showcasing the musical talent of our retired teachers. Well done to all and especially to Marian who drove the project forward and made it such a resounding success.
On return to Kilkenny the members enjoyed a lovely meal in Billy Byrne’s pub.
Congratulations everyone. A fantastic performance .Well done Marian ,Maria and Monica on starting this initiative 👏
