15 members of Kilkenny RTA went on the Abbeyleix Bog Walk on Monday, 23 rd September. The group met at Polly’s Container Cafe at 11am and enjoyed tea/coffee and homemade scones/cakes.
We then set off on the bog walk, a peaceful trail through natural habitats. We took the boardwalk path out into the middle of the bog which was spectacular. There is also a longer loop for those enthusiastic walkers. We split into 2 groups with some of us pausing along the paths to enjoy the autumn colours. Hopefully, we will do this walk again in Spring or Summer when there would be different flowers to see and lots of birdsong to be heard.
It’s a loop walk with free parking in the grounds of the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel. It was a most enjoyable walk. Our next walk will be on Monday, 21st October – meeting in Goresbridge. More details nearer the time.
