The 2023 AGM and Christmas Lunch of Kilkenny RTAI took place on Wednesday, 6th December in the Newpark Hotel at 11.00 a.m. There was a huge turnout of members. There were 65 members present at the AGM and over 90 at the Christmas Lunch.
The President of RTAI, Mary Mc Carthy was an invited guest. We also invited Mary O’Hanlon from Kilkenny Age Friendly Council for Older People and she was joined by Nicky Brennan, their local ambassador. They gave a short presentation on their efforts to make our county age friendly. They have had an influence in ensuring that the voice of older people is considered in transport, housing, IT training and age friendly parking. They hope that some of our members will join them.
After the formalities of the meeting presentations were made to Mary Mc Carthy to mark her term as President of RTAI; to Pauline O’ Brien for her 10-year service as branch treasurer and to Marian Ryan who organised the trip to Budapest.
The presentations were followed by a mulled wine reception and a beautiful Christmas lunch. The choir, under the direction of Maria Comerford and Monica Lowe, treated us to a feast of Christmas Carols. There was a definite festive atmosphere and a great buzz of conversation from all of the tables as members enjoyed the music, the food and the glass of wine. Many thanks to Maria and Monica for all their great work with the choir. Click into any of the photos to scroll through the gallery.
