On Friday, 22 September, we celebrated Mass, in St. Fiacre’s Church, for all our retired teachers. The celebrant was Fr. Kieran O’ Shea. There was a large attendance of retired teachers and thanks to Betty and Denis who did the readings and prayers. The singing was beautiful and thanks to Marian Ryan and Monica Lowe for the music which added so much to the celebration .

Afterwards we gathered in the Springhill Hotel where 65 of our retired members enjoyed coffee and scones. There was a great buzz about the place, with everyone chatting, renewing acquaintances and enjoying the coffee and scones. We all noticed how the age profile of the group is coming down with the number of recently retired teachers joining our ranks. We wish them a happy retirement and we hope they will take an active part in our activities.

The staff in the Springhill worked very hard to deal with such a large group. They were just great and they were very attentive to everyone there. Many thanks.
